The certification of organic textiles.

Each product has its own specifications but also its own certifications. Most of Merchery's textile products, that we have meticulously chosen over the years, have the GOTS certification.

But what is the GOTS certification about?

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standards and it was created by four well-known organisations around the globe (Organic Trade Association (USA), Internationaler Verband der Naturtextilwirtschaft (Germany), The Soil Association (UK) and Japan Organic Cotton Association (Japan)

With the expertise of these four organisations, they have developed standards for organic textiles.

Nowadays, it is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain.

This means that all processing stages to deliver a product need to comply to the GOTS criteria.

All the processors, manufacturers and traders of textiles need to be certified for a brand to receive the GOTS logo. It ensures that materials used in organic cotton clothing are grown without synthetic pesticides and herbicides and with care for the environment, animals, and humans.
